Tidus is part of this imagined Zanarkand, meaning he's neither truly alive or dead. Yu Yevon became corrupted over time and now resides inside Sin; a huge monster that was supposed to defend.
Was Yu Yevon a disappointment to all of you? Before my first complete playthrough, I always thought it was some kind of tall, scary-looking monster. B.

The period of time Yu Yevon is rebuilding his armor is known as the Calm. One thousand years later after Sin has been reborn many times over, Yuna and her guardians pierce its armor and defeat Yu Yevon. This temporarily banishes Sin (it later returns in Final Fantasy X -Will-, ending Yuna's-then Calm) and allows the fayth to cease dreaming.
Yu Yevon is the father of Lady Yunalesca, for whom Yuna is named. Yunalesca's role in the pilgrimage is to provide the summoner with the means to defeat Sin and give the party information on Yu Yevon. She explains Yu Yevon's importance to Spira and why she believes he must exist eternally for Sin and the cycle of death to continue.
There are 2 ways to defeat Yu Yevon: 1)Use Zombie Attack on Yu Yevon so it will hurt itself everytime it cures itself using Curaga. If this does happen than you will defeat Yu Yevon before you even know it(Use Mega Phoenixes on Yu Yevon to make things easier as well). 2)Second way is to cast Reflect on Yu Yevon so everytime it tries to cure.
Maester Seymour Guado, simply known as Seymour Guado, is the main antagonist of Final Fantasy X. He is the leader of the humanoid Guado race, as well as one of the Maesters of Yevon, which is basically a high-ranking priest. Seymour lost his unnamed mother when she sacrificed herself to become the fayth for an aeon called Anima, which she intended to have Seymour use to fight a monster known.
Lady Yunalesca is the guardian of Zanarkand and a villainess in Final Fantasy X.She was the first summoner to defeat Sin long ago, as well as the daughter of Yu Yevon, after whom the Yevon religion was named, and now exists as a spirit involved in obtaining the Final Aeon for future summoners, requiring one of their guardians with whom they shared a strong, true bond to be sacrificed to become.
